Are you looking for your next adventure? We are looking for the best of the best to provide top-notch hygiene services to our growing patient base.
As a Dental Hygienist at Hawaii Family Dental, you’ll be prepping, polishing, and preserving your patients’ smiles while promoting oral hygiene and dental health (did you pick up on that impressive alliteration?) Simply put, you’ll be helping people protect and preserve their pearly whites with the best dental team in Hawaii.
Our Dental Hygienists will be expected to be rock stars at the following:
Assessing your patients’ oral health (it’s like a quiz for their teeth, but the grades don’t count!) through thorough head, neck, and mouth inspections (you can leave their knees and toes for their PCP)
Dental charting (a little less fun than charting their zodiac sign, but still helpful)
Taking digital radiographs (a fancy term for x-rays and YES, less radiation!)
Removing calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth so they’re nice and clean (did you just move your tongue across your teeth?)
Applying preventive materials like fluoride and sealants to the teeth to ensure all your hard work cleaning them lasts as long as possible
Educating and supporting patients by showing them how to brush and floss like a pro and provide guidance to those whose home care status needs a bit of TLC
Working in partnership with the Dentist by communicating your findings while having x-rays and intra-oral camera photos ready
Be a graduate of a dental hygiene school accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental EDUCATION Accreditation.
Pass the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination
Pass one of the following four regional examinations given after February 1, 2005, by:
(1) The Western Regional Examining Board ("WREB");
(2) The Central Regional Dental Testing Service, Inc. ("CRDTS");
(3) The Southern Regional Testing Agency, Inc. ("SRTA"); or
(4) The North East Regional Board of Dental Examiners ("NERB"), currently known as the Commission on Dental Competency Assessments ("CDCA").
